While the idea of a unified data layer sounds promising, I'm curious about how Baselight plans to handle data discrepancies and biases that might still arise from the sources it connects to. Can it really ensure consistency across varied inputs?

This looks pretty useful for keeping data accurate and reliable. I'm curious to see how it works in practice!

There is no technical way of ensuring the accuracy of arbitrary data. One can do it, for instance, for data that can be obtained from multiple sources, but if you make available a unique dataset, it's not just something that can be validated. Therefore, we rely on social/reputation mechanisms: while any user can add data, most data on the catalogue comes from trusted suppliers and is identified as such. Besides that, we use metrics like the number of stars or accumulated usage to rank datasets. Users can always see the datasets used and their sources, so they can make their own decisions on what data they trust.
